ONLINE
SALES. ANYTHING GOES.
Our showroom
features furniture and accessories, but our Astute online services can
recover some of your investment on all sorts of items from electronic gizmos
to fine art collections. We'll choose the best auction or sales site for your items
and handle every step of listing, selling and shipping. All you have to do
is get the item to us and wait for your money.
How It
Works
-You call,
email or drop by the store to show or tell us about your item(s).
-If we
accept the item(s) and you agree to our terms, we'll research the item(s),
prepare the online ad, list the item on the appropriate site, answer
buyer questions, collect payments and ship the purchased items.
-Once we
receive payment, we'll send you a check along with a detailed sales report.
Accepted
Items
While we
accept an extensive variety of choice items, there are some restrictions to
"anything goes." We will inspect your items to make sure they are suitable
for sale and can reasonably be expected to sell for at least $50. We also
abide by the
eBay® guidelines for prohibited or restricted items.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if an item doesn't sell?
We sell over 99% of the items we take, so it's rarely an issue. We place
a great deal of emphasis on getting the right items, so the selling takes
care of itself. In the rare event that an item doesn't sell, it is re-listed
for free. If your item does not sell the second time, it can either be
picked up or given to charity. A receipt will be mailed for items donated to
charity.
What happens if an item is returned?
We only accept returns if an item was listed incorrectly. We have very few
returns, but if an item is returned, we will re-list it.
Are my items insured?
Yes, from the moment the items leave your hands to the moment they are
received by our buyers, all your items are fully insured.
Do you use reserves?
We sell 99% of our items with no reserve. Our experience has taught us that
this is the way to get the most money for the vast majority of items. We
will only consider using a reserve on an extremely rare or obscure item
where there are only a few potential buyers.
Who sets the price?
The final selling price is set by the market. In the auction method of
marketing, each item is sold to the highest bidder. Our job is to get the
most bidders to the sale to bid on the item. For an estimate of what your
item is worth, please check eBay's
completed auction search, email us,
or give us a call.
How do you decide the starting price?
In an auction, the starting price is largely irrelevant; it's the final bid
price that really matters. On most items, we start the bidding at $0.99
since that is where eBay breaks their insertion fees.
How long does the whole process take?
For relatively simple sales and successful auctions, payment can typically
be expected in about 15 days. However, there are a number of variable
factors that can affect how long the process will take. First, it may take a
few days to list a single item or a few weeks to prepare a large collection.
Secondly, auctions can run from three to ten days, depending on the best
method for a particular item. Finally, once the item is sold, it will take
anywhere from a few days to several weeks to collect the full payment and be
sure the buyer receives the item(s) in satisfactory condition. Only then can
we mail you your check.
What factors make you successful?
We research our products carefully and evaluate the best way to sell them.
We have a recognizable brand name and excellent feedback profiles at online
auction sites. We also provide services that are not available from many
online sellers, such as merchandise guarantees, combined shipment of
multiple items and international shipping.
Fees
We charge a flat commission rate based upon the final selling price of each
item:
40% for items selling for under $100
30% for items selling from $101 to $1000
20% for items selling from $1,001 to $10,000
10% over $10,000
Third party commission rates, packaging and handling, insertion fees and PayPal or
other payment fees will be deducted prior to calculating commission.
All commissions are deducted at the end of the process, so you pay nothing
upfront. We also provide free insurance coverage on your items while they
are in our possession.
Of course, fees are really only half the story. We strongly believe that the
most important factors that determine the selling price of an item are the
knowledge and reputation of the seller. We earn our commission by achieving
the highest selling price possible for you!
